Four Years and one Baby later...

In Plato's Symposium, a group of friends gather together for an after-party to discuss the nature of Love. Each man in the group takes a turn to deliver a speech about what Love means to him. About half way through the dialogue, the lot falls on Aristophones to give his speech. (Keep in mind that Aristophones was a great comedic playwright in Greece...his stuff is hilarious). He begins his speech by describing that males and females used to be attached to eachother. "the primeval man was round, his back and sides forming a circle; and he had four hands and the same number of feet, one head with two faces, looking opposite ways, set on a round neck and precisely alike; also four ears...he could also roll over and over at a great pace, turning on his four hands and four feet, eight in all, like tumblers going over and over with their legs in the air; this was when he wanted to run fast." (Refer to the illustration to get the idea).

Aristophones continues to say that eventually the gods didn't like this because the "circle humans" were getting to powerful and strong. The gods decided to cut them in half to make them weaker. It worked for a bit but all the lonely humans were running around trying to find their other half. He continues to say, " Each of us when separated...is always looking for our other half. So ancient is the desire of one another which is implanted in us, reuniting our original nature, seeking to make one of two, and to heal the state of man."

Many ancient cultures believed, not only in the force of Good and Evil, but also in the force of Masculine and Feminine. Once these two forces are joined, harmony prevails in the cosmos. But it takes time, energy, and effort to harmonize these two forces. The end result is beyond glorious though.

A little over four years ago, I found my other half, running around the hills of Provo trying to find me. Since then we have been united in our original nature, seeking to make one of two, and to heal the state of man. It hasn't been the easiest or the most fun at times, but since we have been one, we have been able to roll right into opposition and break through. Otherwise impossible if we did it alone.

Charee is the greatest. Some of you were there on that cold, winter morning of Dec 17th, 2004, Manti, Utah. Friends, family, made that journey to witness the union of the two of us. We have been rolling on, full force, since then. Happy Anniversary Charee and you are quite the wonder of the cosmos. xoxoxoxo
